My Favorite Things of 2022

It's December and I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope all the upcoming celebrations prove to be relaxing, warm and fun with those you love.

This month I am sharing some wonderful things I tried out this year and if they sound interesting you can try out too!

MIND
I read a beautiful book that I couldn't put down. It's about a young girl, and her family leaves her one-by-one. She ends up living alone, doesn't go to school and learns how to live off the land where her home is. I truly enjoyed envisioning what it would be like to be like her, live alone and have little communication with her nearby towns people. Where The Crawdads Sing is a must read on my list. I know it's a movie, but hey read the book first! Click here to check it out and buy it used or new.

BODY
I'm a big fan of self-care and I have discovered a fantastic yoga teacher here in Wichita. Krystie with Awaken Within offerings Yin Yoga classes multiple times a week. I enjoy yin yoga because you get to hold each stretch for at least three minutes!!! Check out her schedule here.

SPIRIT
The last weekend in October I decided to hike and camp for two nights. Being out in nature for a sustained period of time is something that eases my spirit!! The trail was 15 miles long, so 30 in total, and overall it is pretty easy! Since trekking trails are pretty rare in Kansas I am happy that there is at least something nearby. Elk River Hiking Trail is definitely worth a visit whether you go for a day hike or decide to stay out overnight. More information can be found here and if you enjoy walking/hiking this website, All Trails, is also an app you can download on your phone!!

I hope the rest of your year is easy going. Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you next year!!!

Just for fun below I've added a self-treatment session I did. It runs a little over two minutes, it was taken using hyperlapse so in real time it took over an hour for this session holding each pose for around 6 minutes, until the end where I did some basic stretching!
