Therapeutic Cupping

Sessions are tailored for each individual person. (Please note clients typically come in for a myofascial release session first and if cupping is of interest we discuss it at the end of the session.) Myofascial release is my main way to help you move out of discomfort and find balance in your body. Sometimes we do need some decompression. This is where therapeutic cupping comes into play. Treatments will begin with myofascial release and then we will spend the second part of the session using therapeutic cups. I offer cupping to help reduce discomfort as-well-as to help with scar tissue release.

If at any point you are interested in pairing myofascial release with cupping therapy, please let me know and we will discuss what may benefit you the most.

Therapeutic cups use negative pressure to separate tissues. Most modalities use compression and this technique definitely works, for example myofascial release, but sometimes the body needs negative pressure vs. positive pressure. Cupping can create a response within the underlying tissue structures, and this allows for fluids to rush into or through the areas being worked on. Since cups act as a vacuum, fluids are typically draw into previously deficient areas.

Cupping can also leave behind what some like to call “cup kisses.” These marks might look red in color or have a spotted nature to them. If you find you have cupping marks keep in mind that they tend to come to the surface when stagnant interstitial debris are drawn out. (Interstitial debris is material that the body could not dispose of on its own.)

Lymphatic Drainage with Therapeutic Cupping

These sessions are for return clients and if you have a healthy lymphatic system and would like to decrease lymph stagnation. Your lymphatic system can become challenged by a number of factors, these may include: sedentary lifestyles, injuries, repetitive motions, surgeries, tight muscles, pathogenic substance (for example chemicals and smoke,) mediations and environmental exposures.

Lymph drainage sessions are a protocol of specific movements. To drainage your entire body you will need a 90-minute session. This session includes your back, all limbs, hips as well as your abdomen, neck and face. If you find you would like a shorter session to work on either (A) from your shoulders down or (B) specific areas, I do offer a 60-minute session for this. Please reach out for the 60-minute offering.
