Letting Go = Change

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -from “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson

The above was recently shared with me and it hit me in a deep place, so I decided to share it with you! So many of us live life fearing something. This something might be: letting go of a physical item, letting go of emotions, getting old, not being in as much pain, not being able to get out of pain, moving from one city to another, a loved one moving on, and so much more.

I believe that once we are able to embrace whatever fear(s) we have we can let go on many levels and move on. I believe if we don’t acknowledge that we are scared, and feel the emotions that come with this awareness we stay stuck. Emotions live in our bodies! When the brain can’t deal with it, emotions get stuck in our body. And facing this takes courage, that is for sure! Allowing yourself to let go takes even more courage. And once you let go change can actually take place.

So, what does this have to do with myofascial release? Well if you’ve experienced any level of trauma and have physical and/or emotional pain from this, or have been injured, or in chronic pain, or your body is very stiff or really tight and you can’t get these feelings to shift then you need to let go! And letting go has to do with trusting yourself, letting out fear and moving on. This is super hard, trust me I know!!

When your body experiences any of the above you are most likely stuck in bracing patterns which need to be broken. Myofascial release is all about breaking bracing patterns, getting you to let go and feel better in your body.
