It has been a while!
It has been a while! Last year in May I took a step back from my life here in Wichita and ventured up north to Alaska. I dove deep into the abundance of nature that surrounded me there. I even got to live next to a magical blue river, the Kenai River, for the summer.
Between my Alaskan summer and returning back to Wichita I realized a number of things I thought I’d share here.
I listened to my body. - Yes, I am a nature lover and need it often. What I discovered is that my body was telling me to take a step back from literally everything and do everything different. And so, I did.
Self-care is needed, yes definitely needed, for my health and your health and everyone’s health! - In Alaska surrounded by nature I couldn’t have asked for more yet what I noticed is that I continued to need self-care practices that I had developed while living in Wichita. Being somewhat remote I had to reply on me, so I began an almost daily three-hour routine of self-myofascial treatment, yoga and walking or bike riding all in the surrounding nature. It was a chilly summer, so care and movement were needed.
Reflection often is difficult yet eye-opening. - At times, I’ll be honest, I questioned the whole mid-life crisis thing!!! I mean age wise I’m probably there and mid-life questioning is real! What I stumbled upon is “How can I do my life better in Wichita?” That came up after I came back to Kansas as I realized there was a huge part of myself, I was denying while living here. * Adventure * Nature * Change Often *
The journey of life is “for real.” - If you’re older you know what I mean, if you’re younger you will eventually. This part goes back to reflection which goes back to self-care which leads to listening to the body and the self…myself, yourself, everyone’s self!
I’ll be back soon! Thanks for reading.
