Got Inflammation???

Do you ever wonder if you have inflammation? And if you do might it be the cause for various sensations you are feeling? Inflammation in your body can trigger all sorts of different responses, and sadly these are not anything particularly pleasant.

My idea with this post is to give you a good overview of inflammation and it's relation to pain. (Most of the following is taken from an article Nutrition, Inflammation and Pain put out by Vitamin Cottage National Food Markets, Inc.).

Inflammation & Pain
When your body, or an area of your body, has inflammation this is an immune response necessary to help heal and repair tissues. Inflammation is a good sign; although, it must be kept in check if it is not going away and chronic pain begins to develop.
Inflammation in your body happens anytime your immune system is activated. Your body usually produces substances to aid inflammation and healing. But if you have chronic pain the chemicals that help to decrease your inflammation get stuck in a feedback loop. Chronic pain, pain lasting at least three months, occurs when there is a persistent trigger or triggers that the body is reacting to. Triggers may include poor posture, food choices, toxic overload, free radical overload, emotions such as stress and anger, leaky gut, dehydration, lack of deep sleep, etc. Can you think of activities you do that may trigger inflammation and pain in your body?
Your body defends and heals itself through inflammation. When there is pain inflammation is always present and shows up in different ways. Swelling, redness and tenderness are all signs that your immune system has been activated and needs attention.

How Much Inflammation Do You Have?
If you are interested in finding out how much inflammation you have in your body there are tests out there! I'm sure local clinics can easily test your level, but if you are interested in doing it on your own the following is a site that a client of mine has used and recommends.

Random Tidbits!!!
-Highly sensitive to something???
Have you ever considered yourself to be highly sensitive or know of someone that might be? Check out this podcast with Elaine Aron who coined the term Highly Sensitive Person (HSP).
-Did you know that it is said the average person has between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day? Now don't quote me on this because I'm not sure where exactly this number comes from. But, do consider this Mark Twain quote:

"I'm an old man and have known a great many troubles, most of which never happened."
